Former Liverpool and Barcelona forward Luis Suárez has re-joined Uruguayan team Nacional on a free transfer, returning to the Montevideo-based club after 16 years in Europe.

The 35-year-old, who left LaLiga side Atlético Madrid at the end of last season, said on social media on Tuesday he had reached a pre-contract agreement with Nacional, where he started his professional career in 2005.

"Proud to wear my shirt again at @Nacional," Suarez wrote on Twitter on Wednesday. "Thank you all for the support! See you soon."

Real Madrid and Club América faced off for the fifth time in their history in yet another friendly match played in the United States this summer. Like in 2010, both teams gave us an entertaining match in the city of San Francisco, which, as a result of their recent performances, served as a game where they could bounce back from last weekend's losses.

Barcelona is scary again. Former player now manager Xavi corrected course for the Catalan club last season and now has the roster to go for titles. The potential Barcelona starting XI 2022-23 lineup is not only filthy, but has incredible depth.

This summer's Luis Suárez transfer saga has been all over the place, and reports now place the Uruguayan in MLS.

After two seasons at Atlético Madrid, Suárez became a free agent July 1 and it was time to look for a new club. Many suggested that a move back to South America would be ideal for the striker after a 16-year career abroad. However, with Qatar around the corner, Suárez preferred to remain in Europe to prepare for his last World Cup.

“My priority is to stay in Europe,” he said.

FC Barcelona’s money issues are no secret. The Spanish giant famously had to let Lionel Messi leave for PSG after a violation of LaLiga’s financial fair play rules. In March 2021, the club was technically bankrupt. Prior to the 2021-22 season, La Blaugrana were not able to register the salaries of Memphis Depay and Eric García until several players accepted wage deferments. All the while, Barcelona debt reached a reported $1.32 billion. 

Barcelona put on a show Tuesday night against an obliging Inter Miami at DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Raphinha, Ansu Fati, Gavi, Memphis Depay and Ousmane Dembélé scoring in a 6-0 result, although the real story was surely Romeo Beckham's senior debut for dad's team.   

MLS Golden Boot winner Taty Castellanos will be making a move to Europe to join LaLiga side Girona FC, according to reports.
