Every player received his body weight in beer. Specifically, each player stood on a scale, had his weight recorded and then received his body weight in beer. Sevilla’s sponsor — Cruzcampo beer — provided the gift.
All told, Sevilla’s first team weighs just over 4,000 pounds, or two tons. A pint of beer weighs about a pound, so that means the Sevilla players received over 4,000 beers from Cruzcampo. Midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak is the heaviest player on the squad at 183 pounds.
Maybe this will inspire the players to try harder in an attempt to win more beer. Or maybe they’ll just be drunk all the time. You can watch the whole spectacle below:
