Juan Carlos Osorio To Be Named Mexico Manager, Club Says

Brazilian club Sao Paulo have announced that Juan Carlos Osorio has left the club to become the manager of the Mexico National Team.

Osorio, a native Colombian, has coached at Sao Paulo since earlier this year. He has had stints with the Chicago Fire, New York Red Bulls, Liga MX side Puebla and various Colombian clubs. He is a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University.

Juan Carlos Osorio Has Big Shoes To Fill

Osorio will succeed Miguel Herrera, the highly entertaining manager of Mexico's 2014 World Cup campaign, one of the most meme-d men in the world. Herrera was fired from his position after reportedly punching in the face a journalist he had been feuding with at an airport in Philadelphia following Mexico's Gold Cup victory.

Mexico will play the United States in the CONCACAF Cup Final Saturday, with the winner granted a berth in the upcoming Confederations Cup in Russia. Mexico's interim manager, Ricardo "Tuca" Ferretti, will presumably hand the reins to Osorio after that game.

Osorio is scheduled to take the helm of El Tri before Mexico's World Cup qualifying begins November 13 against El Salvador at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.
