Barcelona Win La Liga. Luis Suarez Wins Pichichi. It’s Good To Be Blaugrana.

Well it’s official, Barcelona are the 2015/16 La Liga champions. Barcelona secured the title with its 3-0 win over Granada today. The game was never in doubt, and Barcelona cruised to their 6th title in 8 years, the 24th in their history.

Luis Suarez scored all of Barcelona’s goals on the day, and in doing so won the Pichichi award for top scorer in La Liga. His 40 goals out stripped the 35 scored by Cristiano Ronaldo and the 26 scored by teammate Lionel Messi. Suarez’s flurry of 14 goals in his last 5 matches was a spectacle to behold, and put to rest any doubt that he deserved the award.

But, and the end of the day the biggest achievement was Barcelona’s La Liga crown.

After the game, the players were ecstatic, as you would expect them to be.

Head coach Luis Enrique praised his teams mentality after the match, while also alluding to the early April stumble that saw Barcelona’s lead at the top of the table reduced to nothing.

"We played very well over the full season, were many weeks on top of the table, and the most consistent team wins the title. I am very happy for all Barca fans, for our families and the club.”

"People suffer a lot in some moments, and now we have won six of the last eight titles -- which shows this club has a winning mentality. We must value each title win, it is worth a lot."

There will be no doubt as to whether or not Barcelona deserved this title. Aside from the aforementioned April stumble, they were simply on a different level than the rest of the world, let alone La Liga.

Barcelona scored 112 goals while only giving up 29, giving it the best goal differential in La Liga. They took 9 points out of a possible twelve from their biggest rivals, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid. At times they played football that made you believe it really was unfair to send out a team against them, their 4-0 destruction of Real Madrid being a prime example. If not for a Champions League exit, Barcelona’s 15/16 campaign could have gone down as one of the greatest of all time.

But they won’t be thinking about any such exits today. Today they will celebrate, and then they will prepare for their Copa del Rey final against Sevilla next weekend on May 22nd. It should be a hell of a match, and one that Barcelona will be expected to win.
