2020 Is Unpredictable? André-Pierre Gignac Doesn’t Think So

Mr. Playoffs scored both goals in Tigres’ 2-1 win over Toluca.

Tigres has qualified for the quarterfinal round of the Liga MX Guardianes playoffs after defeating Toluca 2-1 on Sunday. Hugo Ayala was sent off in the 71st-minute for Tigres, but André-Pierre Gignac’s pair of quick fire strikes in the 35th and 38th minutes proved enough for the home side.

Gignac is known as "Mr. Liguilla" for a reason, but the cross on his opening goal from Luis Quiñones deserves a lot of praise.

The second, however, was all Gignac.

Some beautiful play from Rubens Sambueza led to Toluca’s first in the 52nd minute, although the final touch was provided by Tigres’ Huga Ayala.

Ayala’s night only grew more eventful from there. He was handed a straight red in the 56th minute for a lunging tackle, but the call was turned into a yellow after consultation with the VAR. 17 minutes later, Ayala was given another yellow card.

Tigres held on, although it cost Nahuel Guzmán his arm. There's no way it can be reattached after this horror.
