Manchester United Decide To Finally Join The 21st Century, Launch Women's Team

Manchester United have finally joined the rest of the 21st century by announcing their intention to create a women's team. Better late than never!

United have reportedly bid to create a team in the FA Women's Super League second division.

Manchester United were the last big English club without a women's team, so it's nice to see them finally put this right. Hopefully this move persuades the other big club holdouts from women's football (glares at Real Madrid) to come to their senses and join the conversation.

Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool currently make up the WSL top four. Spurs play in the WSL second division, where United would be should their bid be accepted. With all the big clubs (and their brand power/recognition) now within the WSL structure, the league should be able to grow even faster than it has been.
