Bayern Munich recorded the most dominant 2-0 victory you could ever imagine over Olympiacos on Wednesday in the Champions League. Olympiacos goalkeeper José Sá recorded nine saves before finally being beaten by Robert Lewandowski’s delicate one-touch finish in the 69th minute. In the 89th, just one minute after entering the field as a substitute, Ivan Perišić made it two.
So far this season, Lewandowski has scored in all 10 of Bayern’s Bundesliga matches, totaling 14 goals, and all four of the club’s Champions League games, totaling six goals. He also has one in the DFB-Pokal. The 31-year-old is on another planet at the moment.

Bayern entered the match weathering the storm that’d been triggered by last Saturday’s 5-1 defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt, a result which cost manager Niko Kovač his job. As rumors surrounding Arsène Wenger's forthcoming appointment swirled around Bavaria, a meeting with Group B whipping boys Olympiacos figured to be the perfect respite.
Appearing for the first time in the Champions League was 19-year-old Canadian phenom Alphonso Davies, who was handed the start. The rapid winger was pushed to left back — where he’s started Bayern’s last two Bundesliga matches — while David Alaba shifted inside and Serge Gnabry played ahead of him on the wing.
With Olympiacos failing to land a shot on target and conceding 70 percent of possession, it was a comfortable evening for Davies defensively. Going forward, the Canadian used his pace to complete three dribbles, while he also had three shots — all of them coming off being stationed at the top of the box following corner kicks. Bayern won the corner kick battle 14-1.
Hans-Dieter Flick’s time in charge of Bayern might only last one match, but he used it to secure passage to the Champions League Round of 16 with two matches to spare. Victory over Red Star Belgrade on Nov. 26 (or over Tottenham on Dec. 11) would secure top spot.
