Inside The World Cup Final Stadium: Luzhniki Stadium

World Cup Final Stadium: Luzhniki Stadium

• The world’s biggest event will be played at Luzhniki Stadium on July 15, 2018, and is located right on the Moskva River, about 3.5 miles from Moscow’s city center.
• Luzhniki Stadium was originally called Central Lenin Stadium. It was built a several years after the Soviet Union made its debut and saw how cool the Olympics were. It was actually the site of the 1980 Olympics.
• Luzhniki Stadium has hosted two major finals in soccer: The 1999 UEFA Cup Final between Olympique de Marseille and Parma and the 2008 UEFA Champions League Final between Chelsea and Manchester United.

• In 2013 the stadium was gutted to start renovations for the World Cup. The cover and the facade wall was all kept.
• The stadium has 81,000 seats.

• Luhzniki joined Rome's Stadio Olimpico, London's old Wembley Stadium, Berlin's Olympiastadion and Munich's Olympiastadion as the only stadiums to have hosted a FIFA, UEFA and Summer Olympics games final.
