Believe it or not, there exists a population of humans who have never seen a single episode of “Ted Lasso.” If you belong to such a group, let me tell you now is the best time to get into Ted Lasso.
I’ve opined for about a year now about the joy and beauty of “Ted Lasso.” It is quite literally the best show around, at least if the Emmy awards are anything to go by. The series follows an American football coach, Ted, who comes to London to coach a soccer team, the fictional AFC Richmond. Based on an old commercial for NBCSN’s Premier League coverage, the show is an absolute delight.
The characters are almost all universally lovable. The jokes are heartwarming, and the storylines are mostly of the feel-good variety, even if surprisingly emotional at times.
I’ve yet to meet anyone who has watched “Ted Lasso” and not come away enamored by its charm, even people who couldn’t care less about soccer.
So why is now the best time to get into Ted Lasso? Because you could, conceivably, watch every episode for free.
Why You Should Watch “Ted Lasso” Right Now
“Ted Lasso” is available only on the Apple TV+ streaming service. While the $5 monthly fee isn’t that bad, there honestly isn’t much more to watch than the antics of AFC Richmond. Anyone who buys an Apple product like an iPhone or iPad gets a lengthy free trial offered, but there’s another way to watch for free.
Apple TV+ offers a seven-day free trial for its streaming service. If you subscribe this week, you could easily binge the entire series through the end of Season 2.
How Many Episodes Season 2 Ted Lasso
The Season 2 finale of “Ted Lasso” will be released at midnight ET on Friday morning, Oct. 8. It will be the 12th and final episode of the season.
The first season of “Ted Lasso” had 10 episodes while the second season has 12. The third season will also have 12 episodes, and there are no plans for any more seasons after the third.
Season 2 has been ramping up for a dramatic ending for a while now, and you’re going to want to be caught up by the time the finale is released to avoid spoilers. I’d suggest cashing in on that free trial now to start watching the best show of the last decade. Or just pay the five bucks.
What Else Is On Apple TV+?
Well, not a lot, if we’re being honest.
Some people seem to like “The Morning Show,” though I think that’s mostly because of the star-studded cast.
Jon Stewart’s TV(ish) return “The Problem With Jon Stewart” looks to be a blatant rip off of his former “Daily Show” correspondent Wyatt Cenac. The first episode was more PBS than “Last Week Tonight,” which is a bit disappointing.
“Foundation” looks like it could be good, but three episodes in it’s hard to really say. “Central Park” wasn’t horrible, but I can’t recommend anything else the service offers.
Compared to other streaming services, Apple TV+ doesn’t have a ton available. But it’s only $4.99 per month, so even if you can’t get a free trial, tossing a few bucks to watch all of “Ted Lasso” is a pretty good deal.
