Paul Pogba handed four-year ban after positive doping test, Juventus midfielder devastated

Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba's career hung in the balance on Thursday after he was handed a four-year doping ban but the France international said he would try to clear his name by appealing to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

The France international was provisionally suspended by a tribunal of Italy's national anti-doping organisation (NADO Italia) in September after testing positive for DHEA - a banned substance which naturally raises levels of testosterone.

Paul Pogba faces 4-year ban for alleged steroid use

Juventus's France midfielder Paul Pogba has been provisionally suspended after testing positive for a banned substance, Italy's national anti-doping (NADO Italia) tribunal said on Monday. The Pogba steroids inquiry could lead to a 2- to 4-year ban if he is found guilty of doping.

The test, performed after Juve's 3-0 Serie A season-opening victory at Udinese on Aug. 20, detected testosterone, a hormone that increases athletes' endurance.

Pogba's first start in over a year only serves to market Juve's new furry kit

Having just turned 30 back in March, Paul Pogba should be at the height of his powers in the Juventus midfield. But the Frenchman has been so riddled by injuries that Sunday's Serie A match between Juve and Cremonese at Allianz Stadium represented his first start since turning out for Manchester United against Norwich back in April of 2022.

For fans of the beautiful game, it's been a tremendous loss — the World Cup winner, when healthy and in form, is an otherworldly mezzala, capable of things his peers can only conjure in their imaginations.

Paul Pogba returns from injury as Juventus dominates Derby Della Mole

Massimiliano Allegri’s side hosted Torino on Tuesday night, putting together a vintage display in this season’s second Derby Della Mole. Goals from Juan Cuadrado, Danilo, Gleison Bremer and Adrien Rabiot were enough to overcome a strong attack from the visitors as Juventus ran out 4-2 winners and moved up to 7th in Serie A.

Mbappé double sends France into the knockout round

The reigning World Champions are always among the favorites to repeat four years later. Since 2010, however, the previous victors have all stumbled and fallen at the first hurdle, going out in the group stage in what has come to be known as the champions curse.

Each example has been as baffling as the last, but France has finally put an end to the curse by clinching a spot in the knockout round with a 2-1 win over Denmark.

Injury rules out Ballon d'Or winner from World Cup

It's officially been confirmed that France and Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has picked up an injury in training, forcing him to miss the World Cup.

The Frenchman had only joined his teammates Saturday as he recovered from a previous injury but had to leave the session after sustaining a further knock. According to the French national team, he injured his left quadriceps in training. The precise extent of the injury is unknown, but Benzema will not take any further part in his national team's campaign or preparations.

Paul Pogba to miss World Cup after failing to recover from knee surgery

France midfielder Paul Pogba will miss their World Cup title defense after failing to recover from knee surgery in time for next month's tournament in Qatar, his agent said on Monday.

Pogba had an operation on a damaged meniscus in September but his agent said that, following a medical review, he would not be able to return to the Juventus squad or join up with France before the Nov. 20-Dec. 18 World Cup.

Messi, Pogba and Ronaldinho star in Pepsi's ‘Nutmeg Royale’ ahead of the World Cup

Pepsi is not an official sponsor of the 2022 FIFA World Cup — that position belongs to eternal rival Coca-Cola. But a smart way to save money while cashing in on the global phenomenon is by associating with the event in more creative ways — like by getting Lionel Messi, Paul Pogba, Ronaldinho, Fabrizio Romano, RECEBA!!! and Kaljit Atwal to sell your products in a place that vaguely looks like Qatar but isn't.

Brothers like no other: Siblings who played for different national teams

If you've ever found yourself watching a Stoke City match, you probably noticed the towering Harry Souttar. At 6-6, Souttar is a large lad even for an EFL Championship center back. Harry's brother, John, is also a notable defender who features for Rangers and the Scottish national team.

But while John is a Scottish national, Harry — also an Aberdeen native — represents Australia (his mother's native land) when the international breaks come around.
