A week after Bayern Munich was knocked out of the Champions League, ending their hunt for the one trophy capable of satisfying them, the club has announced they have signed both Mats Hummels from Borussia Dortmund and Renato Sanches from SL Benfica. The transfers, both reportedly worth around €35 million, are a reminder that Bayern Munich are still the kings of Germany, and arguably the highest profile club in the world. Order, you could say, has been restored.

Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid faced off today in the second leg of the Champions League semi-finals. Atletico Madrid took a 1-0 aggregate lead into Allianz Arena, however 31 minutes in, Xabi Alonso's free kick equalized that advantage. Antoine Griezmann's 54th minute goal tied the match at 1 and gave Atleti the lead on aggregate. Lewandowski added a header in the 74th, but Griezmann's goal was the tiebreaker. Atletico advance to the finals and await the winner of Manchester City and Real Madrid.

Leicester City have won the Premier League, and the unfortunate job of being the follow up act to the greatest sports story of our time falls to Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid, and if I’m being honest, the second leg of this tie doesn’t stand much of a chance against expectations like that.

Bayern Munich can claim their fourth consecutive Bundesliga title by defeating Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday, and they’ve handed over the keys to their Snapchat account to German electronic music producer Paul Kalkbrenner to document the action.

I would like to begin this article by formally walking back every single thing I predicted for the Atletico Madrid vs. Bayern Munich Champions League semi-final this morning. I was wrong, and I am sorry. The game was not boring. It was exciting, and it featured one of the best solo goals, especially considering the stakes, you'll see all year.

I do not want Atletico Madrid vs. Bayern Munich to be a boring game. I really don't. That would suck, especially after the stinker Manchester City and Real Madrid gave us yesterday.

That said, I'm not getting my hopes up. 

One team's strategy is to defend with like eight people in the 18-yard box and wait for the other team to make a mistake so they can counter. The other team passes the ball around the midfield for like 20 minutes straight and waits for the defense to make a mistake. Sounds like fun!

We’ve seen he defy time and demolish Wolfsburg’s defense for five goals in just nine minutes. We’ve seen him score several masterpieces and solidify himself as one of the best strikers in the business. Nevertheless, Bayern Munich’s Youtube page decided to give the world a little taste of another one of Robert Lewandowski’s many abilities.

The final day of the Champions League quarterfinals kicked off today with Barcelona playing away at Atletico Madrid and Benfica hosting Bayern Munich. Barcelona were ahead 2-1 on aggregate heading into the match, but Madrid scored in the 36th minute to go ahead on aggregate due to the away goal tie-breaker.

Griezmann headed home a cross after Jordi Alba could not fully clear the ball. The Frenchman would add a penalty to take a 3-2 aggregate lead in the 88th minute after a handball by Andres Iniesta. The final score was 2-0. 

Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that David De Gea was not his first choice keeper after the retirement of Edwin Van Der Sar. Instead, it was World Cup champion and Bayern Munich stalwart Manuel Neuer who caught the eye of the legendary manager.

Bayern Munich vs. Benfica could have gone a lot better for Bayern, but it also could have gone a lot worse. The hosts beat the Portuguese side 1-0 to give themselves a lead going into the return leg.
