Dozens — maybe hundreds — of laser pointers, light shows before and after each period of play and a passionate, joyful audience cheering on the home side made for one of the best atmospheres of the entire World Cup qualifying campaign, anywhere in the world. 

NOTTINGHAM, England - Diogo Jota's late winner earned Liverpool a 1-0 victory at a spirited Nottingham Forest on Sunday to book an FA Cup semifinal clash with Premier League title rivals Manchester City.

Second-tier Forest, who had already knocked out Premier League Arsenal and Leicester City en route to the quarterfinals, held their own in the first half, with Joe Lolley wasting a glorious chance to break the deadlock.

Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino love playing against Arsenal. In a back-and-forth match between the two teams on Wednesday, it was those two men who once again who scored as the Reds moved to within a point of league-leading Manchester City.

Jota scored with his final touch of the game and Firmino tallied eight minutes later as Liverpool won 2-0 at Emirates Stadium. Jota has seven goals in seven games against Arsenal with Liverpool; Roberto Firmino’s nine league goals against the Gunners are the most of any Reds player.

A month ago, Manchester City's trip to Everton on Saturday looked like a game which would just be one more step on Pep Guardiola's side's inevitable march to the Premier League title.

But a series of results in recent weeks makes the game not only a vital one for City, whose lead over Liverpool has been cut to just three points, but also has left Everton in desperate need of points in their battle for top flight survival.

LIVERPOOL — Liverpool had to dig deep for a 3-1 victory against lowly Norwich City with goals by Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz securing the points after the visitors had threatened to pull off a massive shock at Anfield on Saturday.

In the end it looked relatively comfortable for Jürgen Klopp's side as they reduced Premier League leaders Manchester City's lead to six points - for a few hours at least.
