Wayne Rooney has been dismissed as the manager of Birmingham City after less than three months in the role, the second-tier Championship club said on Wednesday, after a winless run left them hovering above the relegation zone.

Rooney was appointed Birmingham manager in October when the club were sixth in the table, but they have since fallen to 20th place, six points above the relegation zone.

FBref.com released their annual report of the most-viewed soccer teams by state and it’s a drastic change from the 2022 map.

American soccer fans couldn’t get enough of last year’s results as a wide range of teams from the Premier League, MLS, LaLiga, USL, NWSL, the EFL Championship, the English fifth-tier National League and the U.S. national team all made the cut.

Fast-forward to 2023 and only the EPL, MLS and LaLiga are represented.

WOLVERHAMPTON — Wolverhampton Wanderers outclassed Everton 3-0 in the Premier League on Saturday to extend their unbeaten run at home to eight games with goals from Maximilian Kilman, Matheus Cunha and Craig Dawson.

Wolves took the lead in the 25th minute when Cunha's cross into the box found Dawson, whose attempt was blocked by Everton keeper Jordan Pickford.

A goalmouth scramble ensued before Kilman slotted home and he celebrated his first goal of the season by holding up the jersey of teammate Mario Lemina, who missed the game following the death of his father.

Burglars steal more than $1 million from Jack Grealish’s home during Man City vs. Everton game

NBC reveals that Arsenal-Liverpool clash was most watched EPL game in U.S. history

The 1-1 draw between Liverpool and Arsenal on Saturday, Dec. 23, brought in more viewers than any other Premier League game in U.S. history, announced NBC.

A total of 1.96 million viewers tuned in to NBC, Peacock and other NBC Sports Digital platforms to see the top of the table clash.

The mark of 1.96 million English-language viewers surpasses the previous record held by a game between Arsenal and Manchester United on Jan. 22, 2023, which hit viewership numbers of 1.92 million.

United States men’s national team defender Chris Richards had a heart-in-mouth moment on Wednesday when he was shown the first red card of his career. Thankfully for the 23-year-old the red card was immediately rescinded.

During Crystal Palace’s 2-1 defeat to Chelsea the American defender — who plays a defensive midfielder role for Palace — took one for the team and committed a foul to halt a counterattack.

LAFC in talks to bring World Cup winner to MLS

Los Angeles FC reportedly are in talks to bring World Cup-winning goalkeeper Hugo Lloris to MLS.

Current club Tottenham Hotspur already gave the green light and the decision is now up to the 37-year-old French star, Italian soccer journalist Fabrizio Romano reported Thursday.

LAFC are advancing in talks to sign Hugo Lloris from Tottenham, deal being discussed on player side but MLS move considered concrete as @pokeefe1 called.
