Wed, 31 Aug 2022 - 11:30

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are two of the funniest actors around. From Van Wilder to Deadpool and It’s Always Sunny to Mythic Quest, these dudes know how to make people laugh. Which brings us to “Welcome To Wrexham,” a new soccer-centric docuseries on FX and Hulu that premiered this week starring Reynolds and McElhenney. What exactly is Welcome to Wrexham and who is its target audience? Having watched the first two episodes, here are my takeaways.

Wed, 24 Aug 2022 - 10:12

The Welcome to Wrexham trailer was released Wednesday ahead of the show's premiere on Aug. 24 on FX and Hulu, and I'll be damned if it isn't just a reality version of Ted Lasso. Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are working toward the same goals at Wrexham AFC as Ted at AFC Richmond, and the beautiful thing is that Reynolds and McElhenney have approached their ownership of the club with the same sort of genuine passion and engagement. Here's the synopsis.

All Or Nothing: Arsenal Review — A Proper Rollercoaster Of Emotion

Thu, 18 Aug 2022 - 15:55

Let’s be honest, Arsenal fans have had a tough decade. After achieving unprecedented success in Arsène Wenger’s early years, the club fell from one of Europe’s elite to merely content to play in the Champions League to completely failing to qualify for any European competitions.

In the 2021-22 season, Arsenal supporters were taken on the wildest of rollercoaster rides; the first season without European football in a quarter century was met with incredible highs and stupefying lows.

Netflix Is Releasing A Documentary On The Most Infamous Transfer In Football History

Thu, 18 Aug 2022 - 15:30

Like a severed pig's head flying through the air and landing near the corner flag, a Netflix documentary surrounding Luis Figo's infamous transfer from Barcelona to Real Madrid is dramatically arriving Thursday, Aug. 25.

Titled "El Caso Figo" ("The Figo Affair"), the documentary promises in-depth testimonies from Figo, Pep Guardiola, former Barça president Joan Gaspart and — the man making a supremely dramatic entrance in the final 10 seconds of the trailer — Florentino Pérez himself.

Game Of Thrones Prequel: Will There Be Soccer?

Mon, 15 Aug 2022 - 16:34

I just found out the Game of Thrones prequel, “House of the Dragon,” premieres this weekend as HBO looks to capitalize on its one good show of the last decade by making a spinoff series. That got me thinking: Is there any soccer in it?

Lately, most of my TV viewing has been soccer related. The European leagues are now in full swing, the U-20 Women’s World Cup is taking place in Costa Rica and I’ve been devouring “All Or Nothing: Arsenal.”

As if November couldn’t come fast enough as the U.S. returns to the men’s World Cup for the first time in eight years, now fans have two more things to look forward to this fall: a pair of USMNT docuseries.

A few days after Prime Video announced a series detailing the USMNT’s rivalry with Mexico, Deadline reported the existence of another USMNT docuseries in the works ahead of the 2022 World Cup, which kicks off in November.

Christian Pulisic Has A Mike Wazowski Tattoo? A Breakdown Of USMNT Star’s Best Ink

Tue, 9 Aug 2022 - 16:01

As a soccer writer with a heavy focus on U.S. Soccer and American players abroad you would think that I knew all the details about the biggest players. I thought that was the case until I learned that a Christian Pulisic Mike Wazowski tattoo exists.

The American and AC Milan star has a nice sleeve of tattoos on his left arm filled with clues of his past and interests. I never knew that in Nov. 2021 Pulisic added "Monsters Inc." character Mike Wazowski dribbling a Champions League ball to his arm.
