The United States men’s national team roster for the 2026 World Cup is a true mystery just eight months away from the start of the tournament. Cristian Roldan threw another curveball into the plan with an impressive performance in the midfield during the USMNT’s 2-1 friendly win vs. Australia on Tuesday.

It’s no secret that the 30-year-old Seattle Sounders midfielder has his fair share of critics among the U.S. fanbase. Roldan has often been a metaphorical punching bag for fans during his limited appearances for the national team over the past few years.

Jack Grealish has rediscovered his old form with Everton and earned himself an award that previously evaded him in his career. Grealish was named the Premier League Player of the Month for August.

After struggling for minutes on Manchester City’s bench for the past few years, Grealish has sprung to life on loan with the Toffies. In two league starts he recorded FOUR assists.

Rose Lavelle scored and had an assist in her return as the U.S. women's national team sent a friendly reminder of its dominance with a 4-0 victory over Ireland in Commerce City, Colo., on Thursday.

Lavelle played for the U.S for the first time since Dec. 3, 2024, after undergoing ankle surgery.

Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez combined for all four of Inter Miami’s goals on Wednesday during the Herons’ 4-2 home victory against Montreal.

Wednesday night’s game was a vintage Messi and Suárez performance as both forwards bagged a brace and an assist. The two combined twice in the second half as the former Barcelona duo toyed with the visiting defense.

Messi kicked off the scoring in the 27th minute as another fellow Barcelona man, Serigo Busquets, provided the assist.

A Christian Pulisic goal and assist vs Bologna secured AC Milan a 3-1 comeback victory at San Siro on Friday as the American continued his best club season of his career.

Friday’s Serie A matchup saw ninth-placed Milan struggle as has been the case for most of the season, however a late push inspired by Pulisic led the Rossoneri to three points.

With Milan trailing 1-0 late in the second half, Pulisic assisted his Mexican teammate Santiago Giménez to get Milan level.

Telasco Segovia scored in the 10th minute of second-half stoppage time in his MLS debut and Lionel Messi had two assists as 10-man Inter Miami salvaged a 2-2 draw against visiting New York City FC in both teams' MLS opener.

Tomas Aviles opened the scoring for the defending Supporters' Shield champions in the fifth minute but was then sent off 18 minutes later for denying Alonso Martinez an obvious goal-scoring opportunity.

Cristiano Ronaldo can’t stop scoring as he found the back of the net once again for Al Nassr on Thursday in a 2-1 victory against Al Raed during a Saudi Pro League match. The goal was CR7’s 921st in his career.

Ronaldo will turn 40 on Wednesday and shows no signs of slowing his goal scoring. Thursday’s game marked his eighth game with a goal in Al Nassr’s previous nine games.

His latest goal saw him get the slightest touch on a set piece into the box to open the scoring in the 35th minute.

A superb Gio Reyna backheel assist vs. Shakhtar Donetsk helped Borussia Dortmund secure a 3-1 victory in the Champions League and once against made USMNT fans wonder why he doesn’t get more time.

Reyna was once again on the bench for Dortmund as he’s only started three games across all competitions this season for the German giants. 

The 22-year-old American was brought on as a substitute in the 64th minute and produced a lovely piece of skill just 15 minutes later.
