Liverpool squeaked by in sixth place at the end of the Premier League season, which secured them the last qualifying spot in the Europa League. Brendan Rodgers has walked a fine line with Liverpool’s Board of Directors of whether or not he will continue to lead the Red’s in the future. Fighting for his job is his number one priority, and with no more Luis Suarez and a limited Daniel Sturridge, Rodgers has a lot of goals to make up for. 

After losing Luis Suarez to Barcelona, Liverpool have been in need of a dangerous striker to score goals for them. 

Luckily, that striker may be on his way, and he's American.

Seventeen-year-old Brooks Lennon plays for the Real Salt Lake academy, but he's been training on and off with Liverpool since 2013.

Due to weird FA rules about non-EU players, it's been hard for Liverpool to actually sign Lennon, but supposedly he has an Irish passport on the way, which should clear any remaining hurdles.

Give Gervinho credit for this: he's nothing if not ambitious.

According to Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, the former Arsenal attacker, while negotiating a move from Roma to United Arab Emirates-based club Al-Jazira, reportedly demanded a helicopter, a private beach, plane tickets to his home country the Ivory Coast, and accomodations (including tickets) for his family.

As Major League Soccer grows, so too do the rivalries and competitive spirit within the league. The attractiveness of MLS has grown every day since its introduction to America in the early 90s with the help of world-class players retiring to the league.

The England Under 21 side lost to Italy this week by 3 goals to 1. The loss left the Three Lions at the bottom of Group B with only 3 points from their 3 matches, and eliminated from the U21 European Championships. Typical of England, to say the least.

Fear not: there are other top class players who are (lucky for you) overshadowed by the mass media feeding frenzy around the top players. 

Serie A title winners Juventus complete the signing of Mario Mandzukic for £13.6 million shortly after their addition of Sami Khedira from Real Madrid. The Champions League finalists are chasing after another successful season in 2015/16, and want to add a Champions League trophy to their collection for the second time in hopes of completing the treble. 

The Croatian striker arrived in Turin earlier this week after a medical test, and agreed to a four year contract.

The MLS has been making a name for itself in recent years as a "retirement home" for international superstars like David Beckham, Thierry Henry, Frank Lampard, Kaka and Steven Gerrard. 

Liga MX has been doing the same thing, with Queretaro spending last season with Ronaldinho on the roster.

Now, though, it looks like Liga MX is looking to up the ante, by obtaining an international star who is still playing at an elite level. 

One half of London cheers while the other half weeps as Petr Cech draws closer and closer to a move across the English capital and become Arsenal’s new keeper. In a reported £10 million deal, Wenger is willing to put Szczesny and Ospina to the side in order for Cech to become his number one.

Brendan Rodgers and Liverpool have had quite a rough season from start to finish, from Daniel Sturridge’s injury-filled season to barely finishing with a Europa League spot. It seems things couldn't get any worse for the Merseyside outfit, but they are.
