After Bayern Munich did a very good impression of Germany's World Cup semifinal against Brazil during the second leg of Bayern's Champions League quarterfinal against Porto, it didn't look like it could get any worse for the Portuguese side.

Most of the world never gave Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez a chance at Real Madrid. He was supposed to just be a stop-gap replacement for the departed Alvaro Morata. If anything, his loan was seen as a blessing for a player that had found himself cast out of Manchester United’s suddenly star studded strike force. Now, He had the opportunity to prove himself at the biggest club in the world, to show all of Manchester just how wrong Louis van Gaal was to send him away.

Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has shown confidence that his club will retain the services of Pep Guardiola after the Spanish manager led Bayern to a resounding 6-1 victory over FC Porto in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals. 

Guardiola came to Bayern after taking time off in order to get away from the stress of coaching at the top level of football. His stint with Barcelona before this break was one of the most successful in the history of club soccer.

Real Madrid has heard every possible piece of trash talk that has been thrown at it this year: Ronaldo doesn’t pass; Ronaldo only celebrates when he scores; Chicharito doesn’t deserve to start for Real Madrid; he has been a bust. They have heard it all, and they just answered it on one of the biggest stages possible.

They said it couldn’t be done. They said that there was no way to beat the insurmountable odds that they faced. They said that about Leg 1 of Porto and Bayern Munich’s semifinal clash. Then, those words were aimed to make Porto wary of the German giants. Everyone laughed at the thought of Porto winning even a portion of a game. After 90 minutes and for goals to the tune of Porto 3, Bayern 1, no one was laughing.  

Real Madrid are going to face Atletico Madrid in the Champions League this afternoon with four key players unavailable. Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale, Luka Modric, and Marcelo are all going to miss the match due to injury, according the Guardian columnist Sid Lowe.

Confirmed that Benzema is out tomorrow, along with Bale and Modric, plus Marcelo injured. (Carvajal does play: no action was taken)

Bayern Munich manager pep Guardiola certainly seems to be keeping cool under pressure as he faces the prospect of Champions League elimination tomorrow at 2:45 p.m EST. 

One of the very best teams in the world, Bayern find themselves trailing FC Porto 3-1 on aggregate. Because they scored an away goal in the first leg, Bayern only needs to win 2-0 in order to advance, which, given the talent level the club commands, is entirely possible. 

It has happened. The Luis Suarez that absolutely tore up the Premier League in his last season at Liverpool has come alive at Barcelona, and the rest of the world can’t decide whether or not it should faint at the sight of his glory or cower in fear at the thought of facing him in competition.

Some thought that a front three of Suarez, Neymar, and Lionel Messi would never be able to co-exist, that they all were too individualistic to perform at their highest levels together. With each passing game we are finding out just how wrong those people were.

We all know how good Lionel Messi is. You hear analysts talk about it all the time, and we see his performances time and time again support the notion that he's the best player in the world.
