Tue, 7 Jun 2022 - 16:03

As the great Maximus Decimus Meridius once said, never know when you're conquered. Even when all about you is burning and crumbling to ruin, remain calm and listen to that little voice inside that says, "Hold on! You might still go viral!"

That's what happened to Malta's U-21 team in Tuesday's UEFA U-21 Euro 2023 qualifier against Spain's collection of twinkle-toed phenoms from La Masia and La Fábrica.

It’s Pride Month; How Is Soccer Celebrating?

Wed, 1 Jun 2022 - 13:54

It is June 1, a day that across the world rings in a month of Pride celebration, visibility and advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights. These celebrations will surely make their way into the beautiful game. In soccer, pride month traditionally is accompanied by stadium “pride nights,” themed jerseys and fundraisers for equal rights organizations. Above all else, these celebrations are an affirmation that soccer should be inclusive of all. I would argue that such acceptance, at least philosophically, is the very nature of the sport.

Thu, 7 Apr 2022 - 14:02

Adidas has released jerseys for its five competing nations at the upcoming UEFA Women's Euro 2022 tournament in England with images coming from London's St Pancras Renaissance Hotel. If you were severely afflicted with Spice Mania, then you'll recognize the scene from the "Wannabe" music video — a seminal banger from the Spice Girls that reached No. 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and brought "zigazig ah" into our collective conscious.

Should we look at the jerseys or watch the music video first? Let's put on the music video and then scroll through the jerseys.

International All-Stars: The Ultimate Better For Country Than For Club XI

Thu, 31 Mar 2022 - 12:43

Over the weekend I found myself watching a meaningless friendly between England and Switzerland, two countries that already qualified for the 2022 World Cup.

I considered turning the game off, but I found myself mesmerized by Swiss winger Xherdan Shaqiri, who continuously danced around English defenders, played inch-perfect passes and was in general an attacking menace. One of those delightful balls even assisted Switzerland's only goal.

Thu, 24 Mar 2022 - 08:57

Lyon forward Ada Hegerberg returned to the Norway squad for the first time in nearly five years on Thursday, handing a huge boost to the team ahead of this year's European Championship.

Hegerberg, who won the inaugural women's Ballon d'Or in 2018, quit the national team in 2017 because of a dispute with the Norwegian Football Federation over the treatment of women's soccer in the country. The federation's attempts to break the impasse failed.
