The opening 45 minutes saw Mexico in control. Jamaica were proactive in their approach, but El Tri carved out a couple of clear opportunities only to be denied by the outstanding Blake. In the 12th minute, the Philadelphia Union keeper denied Mexico with a fantastic double save.

What If The Gold Cup Semifinals Are Lit?

Fri, 21 Jul 2017 - 12:02

The CONCACAF Gold Cup, a marketing scheme disguised as a soccer tournament that not even the participants care about, is entering the semi-final stage. So far, there has not been much in the way of "good soccer" and only a little bit more "entertainment value."

Sure, Jozy Altidore got his nipple twisted and Florent Malouda played even though he was ineligible, but those are minor distractions at best, not the sorts of things that will capture one's attention through an entire soccer tournament unless they happen every ten minutes. They are not happening every ten minutes.

Jamaica’s Boyz Are Better Than Canada’s Boys

Thu, 20 Jul 2017 - 20:16

The Boyz are alright.

For all the hype surrounding Canadian youngsters Alphonso Davies (16 years old) and Cyle Larin (22), it was the Reggae Boyz who impressed most Thursday evening in Phoenix. Jamaica edged Canada 2-1 in the Gold Cup quarterfinals to set up a date with Mexico or Honduras in the semifinals on Sunday.

Jamaica has a chance to reach its second straight Gold Cup final and in doing so knock off the team that beat them in the 2015 final, Mexico.

El Salvador’s Henry Romero Becomes A Legend Of Gold Cup Erotica

Thu, 20 Jul 2017 - 08:08

The United States are through to the Gold Cup semifinals, but the real story on Wednesday night was the erotic interplay between USMNT striker Jozy Altidore and his tight man-to-man marker, El Salvador’s Henry Romero.

The City of Brotherly Love was truly feeling the heat yesterday evening as Romero pinched and twisted Altidore’s nipple and took a nice little chomp on his shoulder for good measure. Romero was booked in the 81st minute, but he kept Altidore off the scoresheet for 90 minutes, so mission accomplished.

The USMNT Dumped El Salvador Out Of The Gold Cup After A Terrifying Start

Wed, 19 Jul 2017 - 21:27

Despite a litany of mistakes from the back four and very hungry El Salvador defense, the USMNT is through to the semifinals of the CONCACAF Gold Cup. The 2-0 scoreline perhaps flattered the USA, but a win's a win.

Omar Gonzalez opened the scoring off a set piece, for his second goal of the tournament.

Anibal Godoy Meltdown Costs Panama Spot In Gold Cup Semifinals

Wed, 19 Jul 2017 - 19:10

Anibal Godoy had a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad two minutes. The Panamanian midfielder committed a foul to earn a yellow that would keep him out of the next match should his team advance, then seconds later made sure his team wouldn’t advance.

Costa Rica beat Panama 1-0 thanks to a Godoy own goal in the Gold Cup quarterfinals on Wednesday in Philadelphia. Los Ticos will play either the U.S. or El Salvador in the semifinals on Saturday.

Here’s Why The USMNT’s Gold Cup Additions Will Have Weird Jersey Numbers

Wed, 19 Jul 2017 - 10:43

It’s like Superman wearing a green cape or Cristiano Ronaldo without perfectly manicured hair — there’s just something off.

When the U.S. plays in the Gold Cup quarterfinals on Wednesday, a few national team veterans won’t look quite right in the red, white and blue. Their numbers will be all wrong.

When Bruce Arena called up a few of his top veterans to bolster the USMNT for the Gold Cup knockout rounds, Clint Dempsey, Michael Bradley and others joined a squad that had already doled out the first 23 jersey numbers.
