Ok, seriously guys, what is happening with the world? The United States was not supposed to be this good, this quickly. Jurgen Klinsmann wasn’t supposed to be finding kids practically off the street — or Straße, in this case — and turn them into world beaters. We shouldn’t have been up 2-1 at any point against Portugal in the World Cup. We shouldn’t have pulled off that ridiculous comeback against the Dutch last Friday.

Jurgen Klinsmann and his boys in red, white, and blue are trotting around Europe in a two match friendly series against Holland and Germany. After being given free reign over who Klinsmann could choose for the 22-man roster, he decided to go with youth and uncapped players to give them vital first team experience that they could otherwise not get with their college or professional clubs. 

Last month the United States and the Mexico under-23 squads faced off, another clash in the long-lived rivalry between the two nations as they continue to fight for the title of the best team in CONCACAF. The result was a second loss for Mexico against their rivals from north of the Rio Grande and a second goal against them in as many games for Jordan Morris--he scored in both this clash and the US senior team victory against Mexico earlier in the spring.

The United States Men's National Team lost 3-2 to Denmark on Nicklas Bendtner’s late goal, which gave the Dane a hat trick on the day. The winning goal proved to be the culmination of an extremely disappointing performance for the Yanks. Let’s look at the key talking points following this match.

Yanks’ Defensive Woes

If you ever needed an indicator on the current state of United States Men’s National Team, look no further than Gedion Zelalem. He’s only 18, has rarely cracked Arsenal’s first team, and he hasn’t even committed to the U.S., yet Jurgen Klinsmann has already declared him ready for his starting XI. 

"I think he's already at a level that he can definitely play on the senior team," Klinsmann said source. "He's a special player."

#1: Landon Donovan - Midfielder

The United States Men’s National Team cruised to a 2-0 victory over Panama in a friendly on Sunday afternoon in Carson, California. The U.S. men, currently ranked 27th in the FIFA World Rankings, was boosted by first-half goals from captain Clint Dempsey and Michael Bradley to defeat the “Canalmen” (a hilarious and possibly offensive nickname our U.S. announcers used to describe the Panamanians), the 55th ranked team in the world.

Clint Dempsey and Omar Gonzalez are teammates on the USMNT. However, in the MLS, they are on rival teams. Clint Dempsey plays for the Seattle Sounders FC and Omar Gonzalez plays for the LA Galaxy. Last night, their squads played one another in a key MLS match. The Galaxy ended up beating the Sounders 3-0. Landon Donovan filled up the stat sheet, assisting on two goals and scoring one. But Donovan's game was somewhat scarred because of the shoving match between Gonzalez and Dempsey.
