72-yard strike lights up Copa Libertadores' opening week

The always bewildering Copa Libertadores kicked off this week and it's already providing unforgettable memories for those involved.

Ecuadorian debutant Aucas, for example, surprised everyone by beating current champions Flamengo 2-1, Bolivian teams The Strongest and Bolivar, as always, took advantage of playing at 12,000 feet above sea level in La Paz to tear apart giants River Plate and Palmeiras, while Racing midfielder Matías Rojas scored a goal of the season contender with a 72-yard strike.

Matías Rojas goal vs Ñublense

Argentina's Racing played against Chilean side Ñublense and got a sweet 2-0 victory on the road. Rojas was essential in the win.

The Paraguayan midfielder had an outstanding performance and crowned his night by knocking down Ñublense resistance thanks to a phenomenal shot from his own half in the 15th minute.

Rojas got the ball in between his feet and when he looked up and saw Ñublense's goalkeeper Nicola Pérez way out of his safety zone and thought: "What the hell, I'm just gonna try it." Well, the ball floated through the Esther Roa Stadium skies and dunked just behind Pérez's desperate attempts to catch it.

Just wonderful.

In the second half, legendary Peruvian striker Paolo Guerrero — yeah, he's still around — wrapped up things, scoring the final goal for 2-0.
