There is no sport that allows history, politics, and even religion to all be played out on the same field quite like soccer. The "beautiful game" allows you to travel around the world and strike up a conversation with locals about what you have in common, and take home with you a newfound appreciation for another's culture.
I love soccer because of the way it connects us. Writing for The18 has opened my eyes to the many characters, competitions, and otherwise unbelievable stories that prove this to be true each day.
