Today marks the start of the U-20 Women's World Cup in Canada, with a matchup this evening at 8pm ET between a fast and physical Ghana squad and the Canadian hosts. While play has yet to begin, the United States U-20 women's squad is a favorite - along with a German women's side that looks to go back-to-back with a men's team that just brought home (and then damaged) the 2014 World Cup trophy from Brazil.
With this milestone, we look ahead to the FIFA Women's World Cup that will also be held in Canada in 2015. Four years ago, in the FIFA Women's World Cup in Germany, the U.S. Women's National Team lost in a heartbreaking defeat to Japan in penalty kicks. This time around, they are again favored in the tournament.
