French Guiana Launched A Preemptive CONCACAF Strike Against CONCACAF

Florent Malouda is not eligible to play for the French Guiana National Team. Malouda made 80 appearances for France from 2004-2012, and as such is not allowed to participate for any other country. CONCACAF representatives confirmed before the tournament that Malouda is not eligible to play.

French Guiana responded to this information by putting Malouda on their roster for the Gold Cup and not only starting him but captaining the 37-year-old in their second group match against Honduras.

They tied 0-0, but they seem to be on their way to a 3-0 forfeit defeat. CONCACAF has announced they are reviewing the situation.

Why would French Guiana do this? Probably because they knew they were going to get CONCACAF'd eventually, so they thought they'd go ahead and land the first punch. Basically they did the shrug emoji.

At least they're going out in a blaze of glory.
