Diego Simeone Says He'd be Open To Managing In Liga MX

Atletico Madrid are in Mexico for a series of friendlies, and manager Diego Simeone is finding the country to his liking. The Argentine, known for his intensity and his being linked to seemingly a different club every week, has built Atletico Madrid into a powerhouse despite limited resources compared to rivals Real Madrid and Barcelona.

He also has a bit of an adventurous spirit, judging by his comments regarding a potential move to Mexico.

Via ESPNFC:

"I would never close the door on any job because I like to work, I like football. And football is not just in Europe, it is not just in one club, so I always keep an open mind.”

"I would never close the door on coaching in Mexico. Football is not just in Europe, there is football all over the world so I am always open to the idea of managing anywhere in the world.

"Liga MX is a great environment, the fans are very enthusiastic. They participate the entire time and they support their team and for our first match we think it went well.”

Sure, a lot of that sounds like lip service, but the likes of Andre-Pierre Gignac, Ronaldinho and Pep Guardiola have all spent time playing in Mexico and enjoyed themselves. Who's to say Diego Simeone isn't the next one up?
