All He Had To Do Was Throw The Ball. He Somehow Nutmegged Himself.

There’s a saying that goes, “to err is human; to forgive, divine." The 21st century brought an addition to that saying: to really screw up takes a computer. And, now, it seems soccer has added a fourth line to the party: to colossally f*** up takes a goalkeeper. We know this new addition to be true because of this footage of a goalkeeper nutmegging himself. Wrap your mind around that last sentence, and then watch this video of a goalkeeper nutmegging himself.

And then the guy playing for the Man City-owned team doesn’t score. Top class stuff.

It’s always hilarious to see commentators react to an obvious blooper while still upholding the reputation of their league. Just listen to color commentator:

“That is…Geez…You know heh…That is…What do you compare that to? I’ve never seen anything like that before Bash. I don’t even call that a mistake. That’s just a freak accident.”

You see? You see how he goes from being lost for words at how bad the play was to making it sound unique, like a spectacle? “I’ve never seen anything like that before” sounds like something I would pay to see. This is not something I would pay to see. Although, to be fair, I don’t think the keeper could recreate it if he tried.

Speaking of not being able to do it again if he tried…

some keeper in Liga MX threw the ball off his opponents head and scored a goal. Does that mean it counted as an own goal? No. Should it have? I’ll let you decide.

…and then there’s this amateur who pulled off the most ridiculous shot. He scores from 35 yards out, three touches after a throw in, and isn’t even facing the goal when he shoots. Never. Again.
