As the clock approached 90 minutes at the Estadio Monumental in Lima, Peru, it looked a certainty that Rafael Santos Borré’s 14th-minute strike had given River Plate a second successive Copa Libertadores title.
But in the 89th minute, Gabriel “Gabigol” Barbosa turned it around for the Rio de Janeiro-based club.
Then, with extra time looming, Gabigol shocked the world with a dramatic winner.
It doesn’t get any better than this.
Flamengo now qualifies for the 2019 FIFA Club World Cup in Qatar, which begins on Dec. 11.
