An open letter to Chelsea fans: Are you guys OK?

Dearest Chelsea fandom,

I hope this letter finds you well, however I seriously doubt it. I trust that you witnessed yet another pathetic performance from your club on Tuesday as the once mighty Blues lost their sixth game in-a-row.

I must admit that I worry for your well-being and mental fortitude. With that I must ask a question… how are you getting by? What is it like to tune in each game already knowing the predictable outcome? How does one carry themselves when their team that was crowned best in the world just 15 months ago is now treading dangerously close to the relegation zone?

Did you even have a reaction to Martin Ødegaard’s brace in the span of 13 minutes? Or did you simply exhale a little louder than usual? Is each goal scored against Chelsea just another apathetic blow to an already ruined season?

Gabriel Jesus’ goal three minutes after Ødegaard’s second was a solid summary of Chelsea’s season. A mess.

Chelsea fans’ starvation for a win must be inconceivable at this point. As of Tuesday’s defeat, to their London rival no less, Blues fans have gone 52 days without seeing their team earn a victory.

One suggestion I have for Chelsea fans is to attend a middle school track meet. Doing so you will still get to watch 11 people run around with minimal effort, but at least those doing the running will actually give half a damn.

Does the nearly $700 million spent on players by Todd Boehly even feel real? Or does it feel like Monopoly money drifting through the wind that will inevitably end up in a garabage can?

Perhaps it’s the little victories that keep this fanbase going. Looking at the bright side of things, Chelsea were only two days into May and tied their total goal tally from April.

Perhaps all is not lost.

Alas I still find myself worried over the Blues feeling extra blue.

Please do let me know how you’re getting by.

Yours truly,

David Moore
