The Leagues Cup this summer featuring Liga MX and MLS teams will be a historic tournament and crossover between the two leagues. For the first time every team from both leagues will compete in the same tournament at the same time.

Usually, the only time an MLS and Liga MX team faced off was in the Concacaf Champions League for just a select few. Now every team is involved and guaranteed to play at least one opponent from the rival league.

You’d be hard-pressed to find a match with as much edge-of-your-seat action as Toronto FC and CF Montréal provided in just the first half Sunday. Two early goals in two minutes from Toronto set the tone for the match before Montréal followed with two goals of its own in two minutes. A Kai Kamara goal just before halftime completed the comeback, and Alistair Johnston sealed the 4-3 win before the hour mark.

The Master Bruce Arena almost pulled off the improbable on The Apprentice Bob Bradley at BMO Field on Wednesday night.

Arena's New England Revolution, after winning the Supporters' Shield last year, found themselves just beneath the Eastern Conference playoff line and four points above Bradley's Toronto FC heading into Wednesday night's showdown.

TFC has been surging up the standings since the arrival of its Italian stars, and it was the lively Federico Bernardeschi who gave the home side the advantage from the spot in the 31st minute. 

Lorenzo Insigne scored the go-ahead goal in the 79th minute and host Toronto FC ended the Portland Timbers' unbeaten run with a 3-1 win on Saturday.

Toronto (8-12-5, 29 points) improved to 3-0-1 in its past four games. Portland (7-7-12, 33 points) had been on a 4-0-6 run since its last defeat back on May 28, against Inter Miami.

There was a trophy on the line and a spot in the 2023 Concacaf Champions League on Tuesday night when the Vancouver Whitecaps welcomed Toronto FC to a sweltering BC Place for the 2022 Canadian Championship Final.
