USMNT luck out with easiest possible opponent in Concacaf Nations League semifinals

The United States men’s national team will face Panama in the semifinal of the Concacaf Nations League in March, avoiding the possibility of facing Canada or Mexico.

U.S. fans will be glad to see their team got the best outcome for the semifinals but must be wary not to celebrate too early. We all remember what happened in the Copa América group stage this summer when Panama stunned the USMNT 2-1.

Mexico and Canada will play in the other semifinal. Both games will be played at SoFi Stadium near Los Angeles, California.

Honduras have been ordered to play their next home match behind closed doors after Mexico coach Javier Aguirre was hit on the head by a can thrown from the stands following a Concacaf Nations League match last week.

Dutch striker facing criticism for knee-slide goal celebration after Hungary coach collapsed

Netherlands striker Wout Weghorst has come in for sharp criticism in his own country for zealously celebrating a penalty he netted against Hungary on Saturday minutes after an opposition coach collapsed and was taken to hospital.

The Nations League clash at the Johan Cruyff Arena was stopped seven minutes after kickoff when Adam Szalai collapsed. The 36-year-old could be seen lying on the ground next to the team’s bench with his legs twitching, as staff and substitutes quickly formed a protective barrier around him.

Watch: Mexico’s coach took a beer can to the head, was gushing blood and didn’t give a d*mn

Mexico head coach Javier Aguirre ended his side’s 2-0 defeat to Honduras on Friday with blood gushing from his head after being struck by a beer can.

The Honduras fans inside the Estadio Francisco Morazán took the “hostile environment” too far with disgraceful scenes at the full time whistle with objects being thrown on the field and at Aguirre.

Aguirre took a direct hit to the head and started bleeding heavily. Despite being hit, the 65-year-old hardly look bothered by the incident and continued to shake hands with the opposing players and coaches.

What a badass.

Mauricio Pochettino ties Gregg Berhalter’s number of Concacaf away victories… already

The United States men’s national team accomplished a feat they've rarely done in recent history. They managed to win a game against a Concacaf opponent not played in the United States.

New head coach Mauricio Pochettino got his first taste of Concacaf road action against Mexico during a friendly in October that saw the USMNT lose 2-0.

Watch: Cameraman gets bored during USMNT’s 1-0 win vs. Jamaica and spies on woman’s phone

The United States men’s national team secured a 1-0 victory against the Reggae Boyz in Kingston, Jamaica, on Thursday in what can only be described as a Concacafy match.

Thursday’s Concacaf Nations League quarterfinal leg 1 saw several skirmishes, a field that looked more like a rug going through a blender, Jamaica having their own band/cheerleaders, a red card, 90 minutes of sloppy play and one cameraman who got bored during the game.

Sounds about Concacaf.

Harry Kane calls out growing number of England players withdrawing from latest squad

England skipper Harry Kane has hit out at several players who withdrew from the national team ahead of their Nations League matches against Greece and Ireland, saying on Wednesday that country must always come before club football.

England play Greece away on Thursday followed by Ireland three days later at Wembley but nine players, some of them regular starters, who were called up by interim boss Lee Carsley have pulled out due to injuries.

Canada head coach Bev Priestman fired over Olympic drone scandal following independent report

Bev Priestman will not return as head coach of the Canadian women's soccer team following an independent report into the use of drones to spy on an opponent at this year's Paris Olympics, Canada Soccer said on Tuesday.

Priestman and two other team officials were previously banned by FIFA from any soccer-related activity for one year after New Zealand complained Canadian staff flew drones over their training sessions before their opening match in Paris.
