Cristiano Ronaldo throws a temper tantrum after fans keep chanting “Messi” at him

Cristiano Ronaldo was less than pleased after Al Nassr lost 1-0 to Al-Ittihad on Thursday. The result saw Al-Ittihad leapfrog Al Nassr to go top of the Saudi Pro League table and left Ronaldo in a sour mood.

The home crowd for Al-Ittihad found a way to get under Ronaldo’s skin as they repeatedly chanted “Messi” at him. The chant worked to great effect as the Portuguese star was kept off the score sheet and visibly annoyed.

At one point Ronaldo could be seen making hand gestures to the Al-Ittihad fans expressing his displeasure with their chants.

MANCHESTER, England - Global soccer players union FIFPRO said that the World Cup should never again be squeezed into a November-December window, and that Raphaël Varane's international retirement should ring alarm bells about the sport's smothering schedule.

FIFPRO released their World Cup 2022 Post-Tournament Review and Player Survey on Thursday, and said the results confirmed their fears around players' mental and physical fatigue and injury risk.

Erling Haaland honors women on International Women’s Day… with a crossword puzzle

International Women’s Day was on Wednesday and the world celebrated by recognizing loved ones and highlighting the accomplishments of extraordinary women. Manchester City and Norweigian star Erling Haaland had a much different and interesting way to celebrate women on Wednesday.

There were several different routes Haaland could have chosen. Perhaps he wanted to thank his mom for everything she’s done for him and celebrate her career as a Norwegian heptathlon champion.

Dog on the field and horrendous own goal highlight Concacaf Champions League drama

The love we have for Concacaf is hard to explain. The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football is unlike any other region in the world. It’s so unique in fact that the name Concacaf can be construed into being a verb, adjective, noun… you get the point.

On Tuesday night the 2023 Concacaf Champions League got underway and didn’t disappoint with some wild results and shenanigans.

I thought Klopp was going to murder the pitch invader who injured Andy Robertson

When asked to account for how Liverpool went from "the end of an era" to reaching a new epoch in the space of just 90 minutes on Sunday, manager Jürgen Klopp simply said "the main difference is now we have all the players available."

¡Vuelve, Memo! Pachuca aprovecha dos errores colosales de Óscar Jiménez y golea al América

Por años a la sombra de Guillermo Ochoa, Óscar Jiménez finalmente ha tenido en este Clausura 2023 la chance de ser el número 1 del América. Wesley Fofana cleans out steward who then accidentally kicks other steward in face

Chelsea did the unthinkable on Saturday and actually won a game. The Blues defeated Leeds United 1-0 with center back Wesley Fofana scoring the game’s lone goal.

Fofana had another highlight — or lowlight in this case — during the game when he took out a steward on the sideline after receiving a shove from Leeds forward Wilfried Gnoto.

Ansu Fati provides a fantastic goal-saving clearance in El Clásico… against his own team

Barcelona defeated Real Madrid 1-0 on Thursday at the Santiago Bernabéu in the first of two legs of their Copa del Rey semifinal. The victory came as a surprise to some as Barça were without star players Robert Lewandowski, Pedri and Ousmane Dembélé.

Last Sunday, Almería defeated Barcelona 1-0 in LaLiga for a shock result. Following back-to-back losses (the other to Manchester United) and with a less than ideal starting XI, Real Madrid seemed destined to win the first leg at home. That wasn’t the case, and it should’ve been a 2-0 win for Barcelona.

FIFA's appointment of supermodel Adriana Lima as its global fan ambassador in a Women's World Cup year is "baffling" and sends the wrong message to players and fans, former FIFA Council member Moya Dodd said.
