This 9-Year-Old Got The Chance Of A Lifetime Because Of A Video

The fact that soccer is a way of life in many if not all countries in the world is no mystery.

In some places, families bet their savings and livelihoods on the skills of a young Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi, hoping that their son will be the next big thing in the ever-changing environment that is the soccer world.

Most of the time, these bets don’t pay off and many times, especially in countries where soccer is put ahead of school, they even backfire. Nevertheless, there are a few seeds that grow and eventually turn into amazing stories.

Propelled by the existence of social media and the internet as a way to spread information, young Caue from Brazil might just be the newest success story to come out of the country at only nine years old.

Originally from the city of Picos in the Brazilian state of Piaui, Caue didn’t get the chance to live nearby and try his luck at Brazil’s biggest clubs like Santos or São Paulo. According to the Brazilian Soccer Confederation’s ranking, Piaui’s best-ranked club plays in the Brazilian fourth division.

And yet, despite the hurdle posed by his location, Caue managed to land a gig that many of the boys playing for those major clubs’ youth teams can only dream of.

Because of a three-minute video, he caught the eye of Spanish giants Sevilla and was invited to join the club’s youth team.

“When the opportunity arose, he told me he had to run after his dream and grab it. He spoke like a man, not like a child,” Caue’s mother, Suelene Cortez, told TV Rede Clube. “So, if this is his happiness, it is also mine. I have a lot of confidence in his potential. He’s a child who was born with this gift. He loves soccer. His best toy is the soccer ball.”

The proud mother will accompany Caue as he takes his first step towards this dream of his. The first leg of their journey was a 306km trip to Piaui’s capital Teresina, where Caue is getting his passport before taking the long way over the Atlantic towards Spain.

Set on embracing his new challenge, Caue even has a pair of goals in mind going further into his career.

“I want to play for the Selecao one day and meet Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo.”
