Juventus must now wait a little longer to celebrate their 30th Serie A title, after Roma defeated Fiorentina 1-0. Though the chances are slim, Roma is now eight points off of the league leaders with four to play.
Fiorentina put up a good fight at the Stadio Artemio, and will now miss out on a Champions League birth. Forward Adem Ljajic made a stellar run into the box were four Fiorentina defenders met him and he sent a slippery through ball to Radja Nainggolan who had no problem beating the goalkeeper.
Roma's eighth successive league win affirmed their return to the Champions League and Ljajic was happy with the result.
“Before the match our objective was to qualify for the Champions League and we've done that," said Ljajic. "There isn't much of a chance for the title, but we won't give up.”
Roma will play Juventus May 9th and will need a little bit of help from Sassuolo, Atalanta and Cagliari if they are to make a run at stealing the championship away.
