A video of the Antonio Rüidger run after scoring the game-winning penalty kick vs. Atlético Madrid in the Champions League Round of 16 has gone viral.
Certain players have trademark moves or skills named after them. The “Rüdiger run” isn’t a term people use, however if you say that phrase everyone will know what you’re talking about.
When sprinting at full speed the German defender loves to get his knees as high up as possible. After scoring the winning penalty he did his iconic run and nearly all of his Real Madrid teammates followed suit.

The 32-year-old has gone viral on several occasions for his running form. During the 2022 World Cup he performed his hilarious sprint on the biggest stage.
Rüdiger was asked about his unique running form during an interview with SPORT1 several years back and the Real Madrid star explained why.
"I do it because I think I'm faster that way. If people find it amusing, I'm happy to laugh along,” Rüdiger said.
All his teammates clearly found the funny side of his high knees as they sprinted along with him in celebration.
