From NCAA to Italy — Former Syracuse University player Tajon Buchanan signs for Inter

This Canadian international is preparing to take flight in Serie A.

It has been reported that Tajon Buchanan, Club Brugge and Canada National Team player, is set to complete a move to Italian giant Inter as one of the first big transfers in the January window.

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the Serie A and 2022-23 Champions League runner-up will pay Club Brugge $7 million for the Canadian's transfer, with the deal potentially reaching $10 million with add-ons.

The 2022 World Cup player is expected to complete his medical on Thursday.

The 24-year-old attacker joins Inter after weeks of negotiations, with the Nerazzurri eager to sign a player in light of the continuous losses of Juan Cuadrado and Denzel Dumphries to injuries.

Tajon Buchanan: From NCAA to Serie A

Prior to tearing up the pitches in the UEFA Champions League with Club Brugge, Tajon Buchanan was a ‘Cuse player.

The Ontario-born player, with youth development in the United States, played for Syracuse University between 2017 and 2019.

He had a remarkable first couple of years in New York, making 33 appearances, scoring 12 goals and tallying six assists for the Orange, earning him a contract for the next level.

After just his sophomore season, the Canadian forward signed a deal with adidas through the Generational adidas contract and became eligible in Major League Soccer’s draft.

The Canadian was the ninth overall pick in the MLS SuperDraft, signing a contract with the New England Revolution, a club he called home before signing for Belgian Pro League's Club Brugge in 2021.
