There’s a new World Cup goals queen.

Marta became the top scorer in the history of the World Cup — men’s or women’s — with a smashing penalty kick in the 74th minute against Italy, helping Brazil to a 1-0 win on Tuesday.

The Group C finale was chock full of exciting chances for both teams, but it took the greatest scorer in the history of the World Cup to break the deadlock.

Vivianne Miedema is 22. She’s now the Netherlands’ all-time leading goal scorer.

Miedema netted a brace in a 3-1 victory over Cameroon in Group E action at the Women’s World Cup on Saturday. She now has 60 goals for the Leeuwinnen, passing Manon Melis for most all-time for the Dutch. 

More importantly, for the short term at least, the Netherlands clinched qualification to the Round of 16 by moving to six points ahead of its Group E finale against Canada.

On June 7, the eighth edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup kicked off in Paris, France. The USWNT entered the tournament as the defending champion and the world’s No. 1 ranked side, and the team can still rely on Carli Lloyd, who finished joint-top scorer in 2015 with six goals. However, when it comes to the most Women’s World Cup goals of all time, the 36-year-old remains just outside the top 10 with eight total goals.

The U.S. women’s national team ran rampant on Thailand on Tuesday. The last teams to kick off their tournament, the U.S. flirted with setting the record for most goals scored in a single World Cup game.

The U.S. finished with a 13-0 win over Thailand, including four goals scored over a six-minute span early in the second half, the fastest four goals in Women’s World Cup history. 

But was it the record for most goals scored in a single World Cup game?

Over six million UK viewers tuned in to watch the opening match of Group D at the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup between rivals England and Scotland on Sunday, the highest viewership ever for a women's soccer game in the United Kingdom.

Raúl Jiménez is having himself a year with Wolverhampton Wanderers. 

In fact, the 27-year-old striker on loan from Benfica is having one of the best seasons for a Mexican in England ever, statistically speaking.

Jiménez scored the opener in Wolves’ 2-1 win over Watford on Saturday, marking his 13th Premier League goal this season. 

The opening seven seconds of today’s Premier League fixture between Europa League hopefuls Watford and relegation-threatened Southampton DID NOT DISAPPOINT. A lot of supporters inside Vicarage Road hadn’t even made it to their seats by the time Shane Long opened the scoring for the Saints. Clocked at just seven seconds, it’s the fastest goal in Premier League history. 

The previous mark was held by Tottenham’s Ledley King, who scored with a deflected effort against Bradford back in 2000 inside 9.7 seconds.
