Queretaro Beat America 2-0 To Win The Supercopa MX

Miguel Herrera's second spell managing Club America is off to a rocky start, as Queretaro defeated Las Aguilas 2-0 in the Supercopa MX, which pits the winners of the Copa MX during the Apertura (Queretaro) and the Clausura (Club America). The game was played in California at the StubHub Center, home of the LA Galaxy.

Emanuel Villa struck first from the spot in the 12th minute.

Mexico And Jamaica Played To An Extremely Bad 0-0 Draw

Did that game even exist? Do I even exist?

Gary Lineker once said soccer is a simple game, 22 men chase a ball around the field and in the end the Germans win.

The Germans weren't at the CONCACAF Gold Cup match between Mexico and Jamaica, so in the end nobody won. Instead, 22 men chased a ball around a field and really that was it. Not much happened. Cubo Torres banged a header off the post and many players from both sides fell down holding their faces. And that was it.

Mertesacker Scores On Oversized Overhead Kick In Way Only A 6-6 German Can

Per Mertesacker is a giant of a soccer player. Giants aren’t known for their agility.

That didn’t stop the 6-6 German from scoring his version of an overhead kick in Arsenal’s first preseason friendly of the new season on Thursday in Sydney, Australia.

The BFG’s goal overshadowed record-signing Alexandre Lacazette’s Arsenal debut. The French striker scored, but who needs a $60 million striker when you can throw Mertesacker in at forward?

The CONCACAF Gold Cup Is Holding The Soccer Media Hostage

Hey it's the CONCACAF Gold Cup! Fun!

No. Not fun. Not fun for people who must watch this product. The soccer is bad at the Gold Cup. Real bad. Even the USMNT, the host nation and one of the favorites, is a shadow of itself. This is a soccer wasteland.

Let's see what some of our colleagues in soccer media had to say about the USMNT's thrilling 3-2 win against Martinique:

Typical Gold Cup: Bad Offense Trumped By Worse Defense For Panama And Nicaragua

Panama-Nicaragua was the 2017 Gold Cup in 90 minutes.

After a first half full of crap offense, crap defense took over in the second half and sparked the match to life.

Poor play on both ends typified what has been an underwhelming and CONCACAF’y Gold Cup with many of regions best players watching from home.

Ultimately, Panama pulled out a 2-1 win in what was quite literally an opening act for the USA-Martinique match.

Sporting KC’s Extra Time Win Was The Type Of U.S. Open Cup Crazy We Love To See

The U.S. Open Cup didn’t disappoint on Tuesday, with Sporting KC and FC Dallas combining for three red cards and three extra-time goals in a wild game at Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kansas.

The home side prevailed 3-0 despite going down a man in the 15th minute. The full highlights are worth the watch:

16-Year-Old Alphonso Davies Becomes Canada’s Youngest Goalscorer Ever

Alphonso Davies has yet to score in his burgeoning Major League Soccer career, but the 16-year-old Canadian phenom bagged his first and second goals for the national team in only his second international appearance.

FK Suduva Are Riding A Bicycle Into The Next Round Of The Europa League

With 50 Europa League qualifying matches played this week, we were bound to get an interesting one eventually. FK Suduva and Shakhter Soligorsk delivered with a 2-1 thriller that featured a bicycle kick goal, a red card and an extra time winner.

First, the bike:

The Rapids Are No Longer The Worst Team In MLS Thanks To Houston

Major League Soccer is home to some miserable road teams, with four squads failing to win a single away fixture about halfway through the season.

Two of those sides met Saturday night in Denver. Marlon Hairston scored twice and Tim Howard came up with some big saves as the Rapids beat the Dynamo 3-1, leaving Houston 0-7-2 on the road.

Houston, Minnesota and Colorado all have seven road losses without a win, though the former two have both drawn twice. New England is 0-6-3 away from home.

Rodolfo Pizarro And Elias Hernandez Lead Mexico Past Paraguay

Mexico took care of Paraguay in their final warm-up before the CONFACAF Gold Cup, winning 2-1 behind goals from Rodolfo Pizarro and Elias Hernandez.

Pizarro opened the scoring when he pounced on a rebound and put it in the back of the net.
