Sunderland Signs Player With Greatest Name Of All Time (According To Homer Simpson)

He’s the man whose name you’d love to touch. But you mustn’t touch!
August 10, 2018

It’s official. Sunderland will win the Premier League in 2021 after back-to-back promotions to return to the league. Why? The signing of one Max Power.

Is there a better name in the English language than Max Power? According to Homer Simpson, no.

The Max Power Sunderland transfer will begin as a loan from Wigan until January, with the move becoming permanent thereafter.

Sunderland needs all the reinforcements it can get after back-to-back last-place finishes and accompanying relegations. Max Power will join a midfield with 22-year-old American Lynden Gooch, who scored a late winner in the Black Cats’ season-opener last week.

We cannot wait to see the Power-Gooch pairing in midfield.

Power, Sunderland's 12th signing of the summer, made 140 appearances in three years with Wigan. The 25-year-old also appeared more than 100 times for Tranmere Rovers, a club he joined at the age of 8.

As Homer confirms, Max Power is a potent name, beating out IndyCar star Will Power as the best name in sports that isn’t a reference to farts

One can only hope Power-Gooch propels Sunderland back into relevance in English football after fans literally shat in the Stadium of Light seats last season.
