Here's Why They Call Wes Hoolahan The Irish Messi

Wes Hoolahan opened the scoring for Norwich City against Rotherham in typically magic style, leaving two defenders crumpled and defeated in his wake.

Ladies and Gentleman, if you had any doubt over why Wes Hoolahan is dubbed the "Irish Messi," please direct your attention to this video of him opening the scoring against Rotherham United.

Oof. Where do we begin?

First, credit must go to that nutmeg assist by Alex Pritchard. You just ended that player's career, son. Then, that first touch by "Wessi," which sold the defender so hard, he probably continued running straight into the wall like an NPC in Goldeneye.

Oh, but he wasn't done yet. He then proceeded to put not one, but two players on the deck, and with one final rubbing of salt in the wound, dinked the ball ever so delicately into the corner.

What a class goal by an absolutely class player. Norwich went on to win the game 3-1 to stay top of the Championship.

Now, if only "Wessi" could do that with a little bit more consistency.
