It has been said by a certain hip hop artist that sports and music are synonymous. We believe the specific line was, “we wanna be them, and they wanna be us.”
With all the the s*** that Drake takes on a daily basis, we highly doubt that Chelsea FC keeper Petr Cech would want to swap lives with the current poster boy of hip hop. He is arguably more loved as a keeper than Drake is as a public figure, and he definitely makes plenty of money.
All that said, we can see what Drake is getting at: sports and art fulfill people in different ways, and it is no wonder that the two groups admire each other. The artistic outlet of music has been explored by other famous athletes before, but we have to say, Petr Cechs hands seem to have a talent for more than just keeping a ball on one side of a white line.
Most people, regardless of whether they are professional athletes or not, wouldn’t be caught dead in a situation like this. Cech filmed himself getting really into this song, and he put it on the Internet. Yes, it’s only cover. Yes, it’s not even in front of a live audience. But he still did it, and it looks like he had a blast doing so. At least, as much of a blast as a grown man his age can after a lifetime of staring down $30 million strikers once or twice a week.
The guy can’t have it all, we guess.
