Messi Breaks The 400 Goal Barrier

This past weekend Messi put another feather in his already peacock-like cap of soccer accomplishment.

During the 6 - 0 thrashing of Granada, Messi scored the 400th and 401st goals of his career. This tally includes his goals in all competitions for club and country since 2004, and it doesn’t take a mathematician to realize that Messi has averaged a ridiculous 40 goals a year in that time. Ridiculous for you and I. Average for Messi.

For those of you who are wondering - and for the rest of the us that cannot contemplate an achievement of Messi’s in a Ronaldo-less vacuum - Ronaldo broke the 400 goals barrier back in January.

Now, The18 understands that 400 of something is a lot of anything, but we have found a video of all 401 of Messi’s goals. The video is half an hour long, because of course it is. Yet, there is something a little hypnotic about the efficiency with which Messi scores that makes the time pass a little faster than you might expect.

…Or a lot slower if you are a Real Madrid supporter, as, out of all the clubs he has faced, Messi has scored the most against Los Blancos.

We know this thanks to this handy infographic, courtesy of the user AriesArsenal on Reddit. Check out the infographic for more fun tidbits on Messi’s goal scoring record.
