Liverpool Take Control Behind Pair Of Mo Salah Goals

Mo Salah is on another planet. After a tense first half hour of the match in which Roma had the game's best chances, Liverpool began to threaten with attacks over the top. After a few Sadio Mane missed chances, the PFA Player of the Year stepped up in a big way. Two vintage Mo Salah goals have spotted the Reds with a significant advantage at the half.

In the 35th minute, Salah cut inside to his left foot and curled a perfect shot around Roma keeper Alison Becker. Everyone at Anfield knew Salah wanted to cut inside. These Roma players had trained with him for two full seasons, and they know his tendencies well. There's just simply no stopping him.

Ten minutes later, Salah struck again. This time it was the type of goal Jurgen Klopp has seen countless times from his teams. It took all of 12 seconds between Virgil Van Dijk's clear and Salah's finish on the break. Roberto Firmino delivered an inch perfect pass, and Salah did the rest with a composed finish.

Roma sold Salah to Liverpool for 50 million euros last summer. At this juncture, it looks like the bargain of the new millenium.

To make matters worse for Roma, manager Eusebio Di Francesco subbed off Turkish right winger Cengiz Under at halftime. The 20 year old was signed for 13 million euros after Salah's departure, with Roma hoping he could step in for the Egyptian King.

Those are tough shoes to fill, considering Mo Salah just might wrestle the Ballon d'Or away from Ronaldo and Messi

Sadio Mane added a third goal on an assist from Mo Salah in the 55th minute.

Liverpool look poised to head back to the Champions League Final for the first time since 2007.
