Ex-Liverpool Defender Warns Ramos Ahead Of Move To United

The buzz surrounding Sergio Ramos’ departure from Real Madrid has all signs pointing to him arriving at Old Trafford with Manchester United. The club’s back three or four, depending on van Gaal’s formation, has been criticized throughout the entire season with Marco Rojo, Chris Smalling, and Phil Jones stumbling to make a solid partnership during the year.

Ramos would be a huge signing for United if he is able to break away from Madrid before his contract ends in two years. His experience and accolades over the past few years alone will help strengthen the imbalance of defenders that United currently field.

With all that said, there is one problem that Sergio Ramos will face should he go to the Premier League next season, and former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher explains what it would be.

The Spanish defender is only one card away from reaching a grand total of 20 reds during his career at Madrid, let alone his high amount of yellows. Carragher has told Ramos the he will “have to be careful” with his ambitious and challenging tackles upon his arrival to England.

Carragher went on to say, “At 29 he should be at his best and physically I think he’ll be fine in the Premier League, but he will have to be careful with the referees who I’m sure will be aware of his disciplinary record if he arrives!”

Diego Costa faced similar problems when he left La Liga and signed with Chelsea at the beginning of last season. His aggressive nature put him in many referees' books, but he only saw yellow ten times as compared to thirteen his previous season.
