David Moyes Banned French Fries While At Manchester United

James May, one of the hosts of the popular British car show Top Gear, once referred to Wayne Rooney as a "potato-faced shopping enthusiast." As it turns out, May's statement was even more accurate than even he might have thought.

At least, until David Moyes came along.

In an interview with FourFourTwo Magazine, Moyes conceded that he stopped letting the players eat french fries on Fridays, which had been a staple under Sir Alex Ferguson, because he thought some of the players were fat. "Yes, I did ban chips (fries). It was because a couple of players were overweight and I didn't think chips were good for their diet."

Now, Moyes doesn't specifically mention Rooney by name, but who is he kidding? Who else at Manchester United could have been so overweight that it compelled the manager to end a tradition that had been started by the greatest manager in EPL history - pissing off everybody else in the process? Only Rooney.

The allegations that Moyes banned the fries originally came out in Rio Ferdinand's autobiography (Rio was not pleased that his beloved french fries had been taken away), and Moyes confirmed that he was the one who squashed the potatoes (sorry).
