It’s hard to describe just how otherworldly this clip is. As Americans, we never grew up around the kind strife and hardship that plague so much of the world. War is always a world away, not next door. So to see a game of soccer break out in the presence of armored cars and soldiers decked out in combat gear is, well, shocking.
The soldiers are members of the Israeli Defense Forces, those children that they’re playing with are Palestinian, the only thing that has ever historically broken out between them is gunfire, and here they are playing a game of soccer.
It’s a miracle, there’s no other way to describe it.
