USMNT Youngster Gianluca Busio’s First Serie A Goal Is A Crucial 92nd-Minute, Game-Tying Goal

Gianluca Busio scored his first ever Serie A goal for Venezia on Friday with a 92nd-minute dagger to deny Cagliari its first win of the season. The Busio goal vs Cagliari wasn’t the prettiest, but hey, they all count the same.

Busio went the full length of the game for Venezia in the midfield in his sixth straight start for the newly promoted Italian club. He now has an assist and a goal through six games on the season.

His USMNT teammate Tanner Tessmann was on the bench for the game against Cagliari.

The draw momentarily lifts Venezia out of the relegation zone as Busio and Tessmann’s club has recorded five points through the first seven games of the Serie A season.

Busio’s first Serie A goal should give the 19-year-old confidence heading into his first World Cup qualifying games. USMNT head coach Gregg Berhalter called up Busio for the latest window of World Cup qualifying. He was left out of the first window to complete his move to Venice.
