Hopping On The Nostalgia Train And Finding The Greatest Soccer Videos YouTube Had Pre-2010
There was nothing quite like a Saturday morning in 2009. I’d run downstairs to the family computer and be glued to the screen for hours watching soccer videos. Eleven years later these nostalgic soccer videos hit different.
We may not be able to turn back time, but these videos will make you feel like time has reversed. Perhaps it’s the horrible video quality, or maybe the feeling of childhood gives the sensation of going back in time.
Here are five videos from the early YouTube era that should give you a solid dose of nostalgia. It’s worth noting that some of these videos are no longer available on YouTube and I had to find them elsewhere. I promise I’m not putting viruses on your computer/phone.
Five Nostalgic Soccer Videos To Make You Feel Like A Kid Again
5. Ronaldinho’s Golden Shoes
This video is historic and not only because of Ronaldinho. This was the first YouTube video in history to reach over one million views. For the record, I liked YouTube a lot more when Ronaldinho had the most views and not god damn Baby Shark.
4. Top 50 Goals
This video right here. This beautifully crafted work of genius. This is my favorite video that has ever graced the internet. I also proceeded to solely listen to the songs from this compilation for a solid four years of my life.
It’s worth noting this video was made way before some iconic goals have been scored. You’ll notice that neither Lionel Messi nor Cristiano Ronaldo are on the list. That’s how old this video is.
3. Goalkeepers Are Crazy
Another absolute banger. The horrible video quality, the alternative metal band that never made it big playing in the background and some amazing goalkeeper saves. You won’t find David de Gea or any of these new guys in this video.
I feel like that old grandpa who would always say, “well back in my day.” If you’d like to see the most 2000s music video of all time, I refer you to Lostprophets’ song “Wake Up (Make A Move).”
2. Cristiano Ronaldo vs. Zlatan Ibrahimovic
There once was a time when Joga Bonito ruled the internet. This video of Cristiano Ronaldo vs. Zlatan Ibrahimovic is a classic. Why did brands ever stray away from these forms of advertisements?
1. Ronaldinho vs. Cristiano Ronaldo
Oh yeah this right here was my jam as an 11-year-old. I’m sure I annoyed the absolute hell out of my parents whenever I would put our crappy Harman Kardon HK 19.5 speakers on full blast for this video.
