Man Utd (Momentarily) Twitter Trolls Chelsea, Blows Up In Their Face

Manchester United suffered its first loss of the season on Saturday to Crystal Palace, which notched its first win of the new season.

The defeat at home would not have been as embarrassing if the @ManUtd Twitter account did not play with fire ahead of the match.

Before the game, the club tweeted out this shot at Chelsea.

To be fair, the Red Devils buried Chelsea 4-0 in the season opener, so why not wish to play a rival like that again?

United ended up shooting itself in the foot with the tweet by shooting itself in the foot in the match.

Forward Marcus Rashford missed a penalty kick that would have equalized at the time and could have potentially given United draw.

Daniel James would manage to equalize in the 89th minute. But finishing the game in the most dramatic of fashions, Manchester United somewhat got its wish when former Chelsea defender Patrick van Aanholt netted the golden goal deep in extra time for Crystal Palace.

A magnificent effort late in the game proved worthy of a game winner and the shot had just enough on it to get passed keeper David de Gea.

Van Aanholt was part of Chelsea’s loan army for five seasons and made only two appearances for the Blues during the time.

Now in his third season with Palace, he has made his most clutch play for Chelsea in his career.

Squad twitters have taken some heat before but the comment sections are on fire on the Red Devils Twitter.

To make matters even funnier, Chelsea won its first match on Saturday as well.

The Man Utd twitter still has the tweet up for now, showing some humbleness in its time of Twitter grief.
