The Biggest Bloopers Of The World Cup So Far

The World Cup is full of amazing goals, skills and everything in between. But, while people may be mesmerized by Philippe Coutinho ripping a right-foot curler against Switzerland or Lionel Messi scoring an unbelievable goal against Nigeria, we can’t forget about the World Cup bloopers. The fails, the mess-ups, the times when you would just wish the ground would open up a hole and you could hide from the world.

Here’s our take of some of the best World Cup bloopers at the 2018 tournament so far.

World Cup Bloopers

Failure To Launch

You know that new bit of skill or trickery you’re just trying to master and eventually implement in a game? A smart person would probably wait until they have mastered that skill before breaking the ankles of the opposition.

But for Iran’s Milad Mohammadi, someone never told him practice makes perfect. Mohammadi clearly fancies himself as a bit of a gymnast, as he attempted a somersault throw-in in the last few minutes of Iran's defeat to Spain.

Obviously, it ended in complete failure, as Mohammadi couldn't fully flip over and instead took the throw-in like a normal human being. We can’t wait to see Mohammadi compete at the 2020 Olympic Games in gymnastics.

Spaghetti Hair

Every World Cup sees a plethora of players rock a new hairstyle. But there is always one person who manages to look like a complete idiot. That award goes to … Neymar! The opening game saw Neymar stick a packet of ramen noodles and glue them on his head. Well not exactly, but you must admit it is a pretty similar look. Maybe that’s just us.

Wrong Way!

Own goals are hard to take. A wicked deflection off the foot of a defender is never fun to see, especially if you are the person between the sticks in goals. But, for some of these in this compilation, they are pretty bad. #Sorrynotsorry.

(Unfortunately, you have to watch this video on YouTube's website because Fox Soccer is a jerk.)

Goalie Gaffes

Last but not least, we couldn’t leave out the goalkeepers. Who could forget Willy Caballero’s moment against Croatia where he literally gifted the ball to the opposition to give Croatia a lead, which it never lost.

David de Gea, we haven’t forgotten about you either. A relatively simple shot to save from Cristiano Ronaldo bounced off his leg and into the back of the net. What is it with de Gea and not performing in anything other than a Manchester United jersey?!
