The Biggest Rating Changes In FIFA History

The tale of rags to riches is one that features heavily in sporting narratives and none more so than in football. Players who come from nothing have taken the world by storm, like Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.

To continue with the rags to riches story, we’ve applied that concept to FIFA. Being stuck as a bronze player on Ultimate Team is more of a humiliation than not being in the game, but when a player makes it all the way to being a gold player, you know they’ve done just fine.

To the players who have made the jump from bronze to gold, we salute you. So much so that this article is purely dedicated to them.

Here are our picks for the players on FIFA with craziest rating growth.

Biggest Rating Changes In FIFA

Kevin De Bruyne: FIFA 10 = 64, FIFA 18 = 91

Overall Growth = +27

Manchester City’s midfield talisman has increased his rating over the years, despite a little blip during his stint working with Jose Mourinho at Chelsea. Starting out his career with Belgian side Genk, he was playing as a center foward, but now he operates as a central midfielder.

Before his recent injury, KDB was in scintillating form for club and country. If he keeps this up, who knows what his rating might be in the next couple of editions in FIFA.

Paul Pogba: FIFA 12 = 55, FIFA 18 = 88

Overall Growth = +33

Hard to believe, right? Such an influential player for Manchester United used to be absolutely horrible in the popular video game. He was only a wee little Frenchman at the time, so you can’t be terribly surprised by the rating.

His 88 rating in FIFA 18 is much more reminiscent of his talent and ability today. Pogba hasn’t really lived up to the hype at Manchester United, but he still has his peak years ahead of him. Maybe he will eventually crack the 90 rating barrier soon enough.

Harry Kane: FIFA 13 = 67, FIFA 18 = 88

Overall Growth = +21

Captain Kane has been outstanding for both club and country. But once upon a time, Kane wasn’t scoring as many goals as he does now. In fact, he had five appearances on loan at Norwich City and failed to find the net in any of them.

It’s a far cry from his exploits today, where he scores for club and country like it’s nothing.

Raheem Sterling: FIFA 13 = 69, FIFA 18 = 84

Overall Growth = +15

Sterling began his career with Liverpool, where he worked his way up to the first team under the guidance of Brendan Rodgers. Manchester City decided to cash in on the polarising Englishman and now has turned him into one of the best wingers in the Premier League.

After a career season during Manchester City’s record-breaking campaign, his 84 rating will be smashed through the roof in FIFA 19, and Sterling’s rise will continue.

Timo Werner: FIFA 14 = 61, FIFA 18 = 83

Overall Growth = +22

The German speedster was meant to be the go-to guy for Die Mannschaft at the World Cup, but we all know how that turned out. Beginning his career at VFB Stuttgart, he made his FUT debut at the age of 17 and had a pace rating of 73.

Today, Werner has a pace rating of 92. While his pace rating may rise or fall, there's no doubt that his 83 overall rating should increase.
